WINTER WRITING CONTEST
This year's theme:
Did You Hear That?
Entries Due: November 11th, 2025
This year’s theme is “Did you hear that?” Pick a sound that triggers a reaction, elicits a response, or invokes a memory (good or bad). A far-off train whistle. Church Bells. Carolers at Christmas. A creak from an old empty stairstep. The crack of a shot and whizzing as it goes by your ear. Footsteps coming up behind you. A burbling creek. Rustling in the bushes. The crash of waves on the rocks. A guitar solo. A soft whisper. A child’s laughter. The throaty rumble of a car’s engine. Rain on a tin roof. The call of a loon across a lake. The only limit is your memory and your imagination.
